UCHD project earns national honor

The Union County Health Department is one of just twenty-three local health departments across the nation to earn a 2023 Model Practice award from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).

The Union County Health Department’s award-winning pilot project studied how locking pill bottles could increase safety and access for medications used to treat people with substance use disorders.

“The intent of the pilot project was to see if locking pill bottles could be used as a tool to decrease diversion and increase patient safety and confidence when using medications for opioid use disorders,” said Lindsay Fetherolf, health planner for the Uni…
