Food trends are always a questionable thing. I tend to avoid them unless they are exceptional – hot honey is pretty good on just about anything – but those trends are often overrated.

One thing I do enjoy and have no problem supporting, is the food world’s current fixation on the chopped cheese sandwich.

If you’re unfamiliar, the sandwich is essentially the marriage of a cheeseburger (though loose meat, not a patty) and a sub – also, it’s not unlike a cheesesteak sandwich. It may be more common to the food cart and bodega customers of New York City, but ultimately, it’s a delicious, simple sandwich that any and all can enjoy.
