Inmate who escaped during fire drill indicted

An escaped inmate and his alleged accomplice have been indicted.

The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Matthew I. McKenzie and Zachary Ray Smith.

McKenzie, 34, whose court-listed address is the Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg, is charged with one count of escape.

Smith, 35, whose court-listed address is the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion, is charged with one count of complicity in the commission of an offense.
