During the Livestock  Sale Sunday, Aug. 4, at The Ohio State Fair, Outstanding Marketing Exhibitors were recognized. Three of those in the Sheep Division recognized hail from Union County.
Morgan Evans and Bailee Amstutuz, both North Union students and  Nicholas Johnson, a Marysville student, were in the top ten of the Outstanding Marketing Exhibitors.

Richwood Independent Fair celebrates 127 years

The Richwood Fair will begin Wednesday, Aug. 28 and runs through Labor Day, September 2. Summer activities will soon be in the books for many students, FFA and 4-H students.

Health department to hold Back to School shot clinics

It’s August and many children will be entering the schools soon. The Union County Health Department wants to help ease the burden for the parents in offering back to school shot clinics at Union County Schools, beginning Aug. 7.

Council calls emergency meeting

Mayor Scott Jerew called an emergency meeting of village council members Monday, stating that he received a lengthy email from Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips regarding the verbage on the three levies that Richwood voters will see on the November 5 ballot.
Apparently, council had not been received the most recent Ohio Revised Code and Phillips noted that the wording in the levies were not up-to-date.

Memorial Home Health, a service of Memorial Hospital, was recently awarded the “Superior Performer” award for 2018 by Strategic Healthcare Partners (SHP) and ranked in the top 20% in the nation, regarding benchmarks and quality measure scores from the patient’s point of view.

Residents continue to attend the two village council meetings each month to check on any updates regarding the flooding issues residents have endured after heavy rains.

Volunteers welcome in preparing for Richwood Independent Fair

The 127th annual Richwood Independent Fair will begin Wednesday, Aug. 28 and the six-day run ends on Labor Day, Sept. 2.  Fair board members work hard for 12 months to get entertainment scheduled, attract harness racers and fans, get young people involved with their projects and the most time consuming event is preparing the grounds months ahead for opening day,

November election shows candidates and issues to vote on

Local election officials say they are already preparing for November’s election.
“We are working hard, we have a lot of stuff to do,” said Brandon Clay, director of the Union County Board of Elections. “We are working to verify petitions and signatures, getting the new equipment ready, getting ballots ready. There is a lot of work to be done, but we are really excited for the upcoming election.”
