2014 Homecoming royalty crowned
The annual Homecoming ceremonies were held last Friday evening prior to the kickoff of the North Union versus Fairbanks football game. The court was introduced and accompanied by their parents onto the football field. The three candidates each for king and queen were introduced. The student body had selected Tiffany Smith, daughter of Anthony and  Julie Smith as the 2014 queen and Riley Hughes, son, of John Hughes and Cyndi Dostanko, as the king. The queen received floral bouquets from the student council for the honor and also from the Richwood-North Union Alumni. North Union was victorious over the Fairbanks Panthers, defeating them 39-0. (photo by Clint Matlack)

Pictured above with North Union Middle School students, is Joel Penton, a former Ohio State University graduate and football player. He visited North Union Middle School Thursday to talk about making good choices in life, to believe in yourself, make a commitment and follow through. Pictured below is William White, also a former OSU graduate and former football player. He also talked with students on Friday about having good role models, set a goal and don’t quit on yourself. White is the regional vice-president of the “Project Lead The Way,” program used in schools around the country, an engineering program offered at North Union. White was made an honorary North Union Wildcat with Meghan Fuller presenting White with a jersey and NUMS principal Matt Burggraf making the announcement. (photo by Sherryl Sheets)
